This is the promo that my hometown newspaper ran for Stand Up to Cancer.

No where does it mention how important this fund raiser is; that it raises money for research that benefits all of us. To me it reads flippant, comparing SU2C to the Jerry Lewis telethon (an equally important fund raiser, IMHO). Very little offends me, but this did. I hope the writer’s life is never touched by cancer, but it might give him a different perspective.

I totally agree with you. The article was more about who would be there, not what the fundraiser is about.

This guy totally missed the point. Unfortunately this is what a lot of fundraisers have become these days… a chance to talk about celebrities and not the great causes they are representing.

I agree with everyone else, you are not being overly sensitive. It reads like a promo for the Teen Choice Awards.
